You have questions. I have answers.
Who is taking my photo?
I (Emily) will be taking your photo. To learn more about me, please visit this link.
Why do I need a new headshot?
First impressions matter. Your online platforms are seen by many people who want to know who you are. It’s important to stand out, present yourself confidently, and authentically. A fabulous headshot can enhance your professionalism, your unique brand, and your personality.
What can I use these photos for?
You may use the images for your personal website or your company’s website, your social media platforms, and your marketing materials. Third party usage is not allowed. That means you cannot allow someone else to use the image for any other purpose except promoting you. Authors may use their images on a book jacket but not on the cover. Additional licensing may be purchased for broader use. Please read the full licensing terms so that you are familiar with them before we shoot.
Where will my photo be taken?
Your photo session will take place at my downtown studio in Santa Barbara, CA. It’s a perfect location for anyone living in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles . There is plenty of parking, too!
Will you shoot at my preferred location?
I most certainly can photograph you or your company headshots at your preferred location. Additional travel fees may apply. Please let me know your desired location in the contact form so that I can provide an estimate for you.
What happens after my session?
You will find all of that information here. Decide what works best for your photography needs.
Do I need a makeup artist?
I would highly recommend that you work with a professional hair and makeup artist. I am happy to provide referrals for you. Due to Covid-19, I am limiting the number of people in the studio, therefore, your makeup and hair should be done at a different location.
How long will I have access to the gallery of images?
Once the image gallery is live, you have 5 days to view your images and make your final selections. If you need more time for viewing there is an additional fee.
What type of retouching do you provide?
Standard retouching includes, blemish removal, reduction of shine, wrinkles, eye bags, and stray hairs. Your teeth are whitened and so are your eyes. Exposure, color correction, and contrast is also applied for overall image quality. Standard retouching does not include things like removing braces, changing hair color, background removal, making you look significantly younger, or reducing creases or wrinkles in your clothing. (I do have a steamer available if you need one, but it’s helpful to have wrinkle free clothing prepared prior to your shoot.)
What should I wear?
First and foremost, the way you present yourself is entirely up to you. If you are like most, what you wear professionally is different than what you wear casually or on a date. I would consider your audience and then proceed to choose clothes. Once you book your session, I will send you some tips and clothing suggestions. Feel free to send me photos of your outfits or bring multiple outfits to your shoot and we can choose together.
How do I book my photo shoot?
For a single headshot session, please refer to the pricing info, and then fill out the contact form. If you are in need of company headshots, please fill out the contact form and I will customize an estimate for you. Once we finalize a date, I ask for 50% of the total session fee to hold the date. This deposit is non refundable. The remaining session fee is due no later than the day of the shoot. Please review the terms and conditions.
May I bring my friend?
Yes, you can bring one friend. My studio is a modest size, so please be mindful of that. Unless you require a support animal, please leave the animals at home.
I still have questions. May I contact you?
I get it. You have more questions. I love talking on the phone, however, if you don’t have time to schedule a phone consultation then please email me directly. Please don’t message me through social networking sites.
